Dear Editor:

“Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer … Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.” — John F. Kennedy.

I am proud to have known Derek Johnson for more than 16 years and can consider him one of the smartest, thoughtful, introspective and honest people I have ever known. I know he is the best candidate that Aspen has for mayor.

For as long as I have known Derek, he has been a very focused and innovative person who is always willing to listen to all sides of an issue. One of the most impressive traits is that he not only listens to other opinions that he is open-minded enough to let those opinions change his own views. This is something rarely seen in politics or even friendship for that matter.

I know that Derek will do everything possible to make our community a better, more vibrant and viable place to live and visit. Please take your opportunity to make a change in this city on Tuesday and vote for Derek Johnson. He’s the stealth candidate!
