Come out for community bike event

This Sunday, June 10, from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., everyone in the Roaring Fork Valley is invited to join us for the second annual Community Pedaleando at North Face Park in Carbondale. The Aspen Community Foundation, Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club, Valley Settlement, Radio TriColor and the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies are sponsoring the Pedaleando for youth and their families to embrace cycling’s benefits for wellness, recreation and sustainability.

The Pedaleando is a 5-mile bike ride for children and parents on the Rio Grande Trail, starting at 11 a.m.. It also includes an afternoon of family activities, music from DJ Scratch, lunch and information on bike safety and health. There will be bikes and helmets for those who don’t have them, a raffle of awesome prizes, and refurbished bikes that will be given away. A free lunch of sustainable foods will be served to all, and Rock Bottom Ranch and AVSC will offer scholarship opportunities for summer camps.

Many of our local organizations and businesses will be there, including ACES at Rock Bottom Ranch, Aloha Mountain Cyclery, Aspen Cycling Club, Aspen Skiing Co., Aspen Valley Hospital, Basalt Bike and Ski, Carbondale Fire Protection District, CycleBar Aspen, Hub of Aspen, Mountain Family Health Centers, Pitkin Open Space and Trails, Project PACK, Raising a Reader, Rock Bottom Ranch, Stepping Stones, Taqueria El Nopal, The Little Nell, Valley Settlement and Way of Compassion.

Please join us at the Pedaleando in Carbondale’s North Face Park on Sunday, and make sure that all kids have access to high-quality education, sport and health.
