Basalt needs high-end RV park

My family and I were anxiously awaiting the opening of the proposed RV and tiny-home cabins in the small mountain town of Basalt, Colorado. We thought that it would be a positive addition to a quaint community by offering other options for lodging.

We have visited Basalt in the past in our RV and have found it to be not RV-friendly. An upscale RV resort is just what that area needs to accommodate high-end RVs. According to CNN Money USA, RVs are “back and bigger than ever.” Last year alone, 430,000 recreational vehicles of all kinds were sold, according to the RV Industry Association. In 2017, 6.75 million households own a RV. High-end RV resorts are popping up all over the country, luring tourist to their towns.

Families are enjoying these types of resorts from the East Coast to the West Coast. To name a few resorts, there are Mountain Falls Luxury Motor coach RV Resort located in North Carolina, Normandy Farm Family Resort located in Cape Cod, Bella terra of Gulf Shores and Motor Coach Country Club located in Palm Springs California. Basalt has a lot to offer with gold-medal fishing, quaint restaurants and shops, located close to Aspen, Maroon Bells, not to mention local festivals and nearby ski areas. It is extremely disappointing that the town of Basalt isn’t open to an out-of-the-box idea that would benefit the local economy financially and bring some much needed options for tourism.

We will continue traveling to areas that accommodate RVs.
