An important story to tell
An important story to tell
This is long overdue in responding to your May 8, 2017 article “Dutch immigrant shares WWII stories from a child’s eye.”
Tilly Maddux’s father, Mr. Landman, with a wife and 11 children, risked their lives to protect Jews and allied soldiers, hiding them in their converted basement for five years.
I am blown away by what he did and am deeply grateful for his compassion and heroism.
To this day, Mrs. Maddux speaks to students telling her story: “In schools they don’t really learn anything about WWII anymore, or it’s very rudimentary.”
I thank you for you and your family.
