Letter: Preserve land in Basalt

I’m writing to encourage everyone to vote “yes” for both ballot measures 2F and 2G to purchase the Commercial Development Corp. land and to support building the river park improvements.

Contrary to some written opinions many years of community planning, meetings and compromise have gone into the design of this spectacular park. Now is the time for the residents of Basalt to come together and secure this singular land for the future of our town.

Voting for this bond measure will not raise your tax levy; it will stay at the same level. The bond interest rate is at an historic low and it makes economic sense to finance this project accordingly.

Basalt will be in control of its future and able to see increased land value for the 1-acre site reserved for development possibly resulting in paying more back to the town.

Basalt has also just received unofficial agreements of $400,000 each from both Pitkin and Eagle open space funds that will lower the debt owed immediately.

Please vote “yes” on 2F and 2G to help Basalt own and build this Legacy River Park and revitalize our town for our residents and children.

Lauren Boebert deserves your respect

You have recently included, in letters to the editor, several letters from obvious liberals who complain about Lauren Boebert and her patriotic and conservative approach to our national issues.
