Letter: McCrory not beholden to party politics

Our elected district attorney is the chief prosecutor for the people, all the people. I believe that he or she should be above the divisiveness of politics and therefore should not be affiliated with, influenced by — or even have the appearance of being influenced by — any political party.

I am voting for Chip McCrory, the independent candidate for district attorney. He also has impressive experience. As a deputy sheriff, I worked with Chip when he was a deputy DA, and I saw first-hand his skill as a prosecuting attorney. My respect for Chip continued when he later went into private practice as a defense attorney. Chip understands our judicial system inside and out.

I believe Chip will lead the entire staff in the District Attorney’s Office with integrity, intelligence and wisdom in the pursuit of justice.
