Letter: Deceptive signs in Basalt
Numerous yard signs and posters have appeared in Basalt, asking us to “Buy the River Park.” If I didn’t know better, I might assume that we don’t already have a River Park. The unfortunate part about this issue is that it’s quite obvious that our town does not have the funds available to maintain the present park. Three summers ago the park was graded, seeded, mulched and spray sprinklers installed. There is no evidence that our park has been adequately maintained, and it remains a forlorn wasteland.
We can’t afford to purchase the land from Community Development Corp.
Vote “no” on 2F.

Keep Crown Mountain Park free to all
An entrepreneur’s plea for a rushed commitment from Crown Mountain Park directors on his proposal for a 90,000-square-foot, indoor “sportsplex” should be delayed for proper vetting.
