Letter: Cheney’s experience and character matter

I must confess that I don’t know all three district attorney candidates as well as I have grown to know and admire Jeff Cheney, so please ask yourself how your candidate’s attributes compare as I report my personal observations of Jeff.

Through his dedicated performance as my son’s Boy Scout troop leader, I witnessed him faithfully living out their motto of high gentlemanly standards. Through his words and actions, he demonstrated his love for his family and to numerous young men what it takes to be a model father, leader and husband. Through my “soldier” talks with him, as a fellow Army reservist, I grew to appreciate his concern for personnel, protection of the innocent worldwide, and love for our country. Through my patriotic, “let’s fix America” talks with him, I grew to admire his virtue, honor, and sincerity for doing what is right by all the laws: constitutional, moral and civil. He has a rare others-centered servant’s heart, humbly willing to sacrifice his time, and forego a lucrative career in order to make the 9th Judicial District a safer region for all citizens by managing an effective District Attorney’s Office.

It’s an easy choice to vote for Jeff Cheney when you consider his vast experience as a tough and determined prosecutor, his impressive people skills working as a team player, and his unequalled concern for the victims to see that justice is served.
