Houchin: Ski patrol is awesome

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, while skiing Highlands Bowl with two of my close friends we witnessed a tragic ski accident. My friend, who is an experienced emergency room doctor, was first to reach the individual. I was the second on the scene. Within minutes Highlands Ski Patrol rolled in and took over the scenario. There ended up being 12 patrollers on scene. These patrollers managed this event in a measurable, calm, highly skilled and precise manner. They were professional and knowledgable in every aspect. They gave the rescue an all out effort. While riding home with my doctor friend I asked him what he thought of the management of the entire situation. He stated that the ski patrol was profoundly adept in handling this entire scenario.

It is very satisfying and gratifying for me to know that while we are out enjoying what we love that we are protected under the watchful eye of our ski patrol. We are only moments away from help should we need it . Thank you, ski patrol, you are awesome.
