Hoerr: U.S. Postal Service woes

FYI, our Washington D.C. postmaster decided not to forward some customers mail until he sent them a letter to their original address and have them respond that they wanted their mail forwarded. You must submit your forwarding information two weeks beforehand.

D.C. explained to me that people were turning in false forwarding information. This is a new policy as of 2024. I contacted the Washington D.C. postal information line, and they explained that U.S. postal customers are supposed to check the USPS site and keep up on changes. Each time I go to the post office, I hear someone else not getting their mailed forwarded. This is the reason. Don’t expect your local postmaster to know; I was told by D.C. that “it is your responsibility.”
