Councilman Torre’s political aspirations and an accidental death in Basalt both provoked comment from online readers of The Aspen Times last week.

Columnist Su Lum provoked readers with her plea to City Councilman Torre to seek re-election to his seat instead of taking the political gamble of a mayoral bid, arguing he’s a shoo-in for a third term as councilman, but could lose the mayor’s race and his seat on the council. Torre subsequently announced he will run for mayor, but not before others echoed Lum’s views.
