‘Divot diggers’ speak out

Carving the corduroy caused a bit of dissension among online readers of The Aspen Times last week.

Fueling the debate was a Feb. 16 letter to the editor from Ron Baar, “Damn divot diggers,” in which the reader decried the deep carves in the snow left by “knuckle draggers” on Aspen Mountain.

Discussion about whether or not to include a FlowRider ” it creates an ocean-type wave in a pool ” in plans for outdoor amenities at the Aspen Recreation Center also generated online comment.

The Times’ online poll quizzed readers on whether or not the wave feature, at a cost of some $900,000, should be part of the plans and one reader offered this observation in response:
