The Dennis Basso Freestyle benefit was once again a great success over the holiday season. Aspens only fashion gala of the year took place last Friday, Dec. 28, at the St. Regis. Along with the Aspen Art Museums summer feature event artCRUSH, Dennis Basso Freestyle is one of two major AAM fund-raising events that takes place each year to benefit the museums internationally recognized contemporary arts programming. The evening kicked off at 4:30 p.m. as stylishly attired guests mingled over Mot & Chandon champagne, cocktails, caviar, and hors doeuvres.Guests were dressed to the nines in an array of styles, from floor-length gowns to little black dresses on the ladies while the gentlemen tended toward slacks paired with cashmere sweaters, or sport coats and oxfords. The silent auction included a range of items from precious gems and fashion accessories, to adventurous trips. Over $300,000 was raised in the live auction, which was hosted by Christies auctioneer Lydia Fenet. The Dennis Basso 2007/2008 Winter Collection fashion show capped off the evening as models paraded down the runway in the designers favorite creations.Presenting sponsors for the event included Bulgari, Aspen Magazine and Sentient Jet Membership. For more information on the AAM, visit their recently redesigned website, http://www.aspenartmuseum.org, or call 925.8050.
