Bell: These candidates are dedicated

Aspen needs pragmatic leadership that respects our residents’ decisions while tackling our community’s challenges. That’s why I’m supporting John Doyle and Christine Benedetti for city council.

During his four years, Doyle has delivered tangible results — completing Burlingame Phase 3, approving the Lumberyard project, and implementing Building IQ. He’s served on seven boards including CAST, CORE, and APCHA, volunteering for three additional boards when newer council members declined to serve. His deep knowledge from 40+ years in Aspen combined with his focus on community resilience shows he understands both our town’s history and its future challenges.

Benedetti brings fresh perspective from nearly two decades of community involvement. As a local reporter and now a professional raising a family here, she understands Aspen’s complexities and pledges to make “pragmatic decisions based in reality and fact.” As she puts it: “I ran on a commitment to respect and implement the voters’ decision.” Her commitment to revitalizing Aspen’s “third spaces” — the gathering places beyond home and work where community happens — shows her dedication to preserving our town’s character and will be invaluable in efforts to redevelop the Armory Hall into a vibrant community space.

Both candidates respect the voters’ decision on the Entrance to Aspen and are committed to responsible implementation. They approach this issue with a focus on community needs rather than personal agendas.

For council members who will honor residents’ will while addressing housing, transportation, and community preservation, Doyle and Benedetti deserve our votes.
