Baugh: Ajax Cup a huge success

As we welcome the New Year, Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club (AVSC) is beyond grateful.

We closed out 2024 with our spectacular 15th Annual Audi Ajax Cup — a celebration of our beloved sport, beautiful mountains, and generous mountain community.

We are thrilled to share that the Ajax Cup, our largest fundraiser, exceeded our goal and set a record of raising more than $1.3 million. While we finalize the numbers, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this event possible. Your support enables kids from all walks of life to hit the snow, regardless of their financial circumstances. These dollars will support our scholarship efforts in a very meaningful way.

Congratulations to the winning team, the Aspen Vikings, which included some of our very own AVSC skiers!

This event has grown every year and means so much to all of us. We were fortunate to have incredible co-chairs, Alana Bly and Christine Heller, leading the way. A special thanks goes out to our team buyers, professional racers, athletes, AVSC staff, and volunteers — your dedication is the foundation of AVSC, and you made this event a memorable success for everyone.

We are proud to consider the Ajax Cup one of the best community events in Aspen. This event wouldn’t have been possible without our generous sponsors and partners: Aspen Skiing Company, Audi, Gorsuch, KJUS, La Adelita, Dillon’s Small Batch, Chukker TV, John Jett, The Little Nell and Matt Zubrod, Six Productions, Hublot, Edmiston, EKS Events, Sam Ferguson, Sander Olson, and Pit Viper.

Thank you all for helping us stay focused on our mission: providing all youth the opportunity to excel as athletes and as people through winter sports. While the Ajax Cup is an alpine event, all of our disciplines — snowboarding, free style/big mountain, nordic, and skimo — benefit from your generous support.

We are just a few days into 2025 and already excited to to make it one of the best. Happy New Year from the AVSC team.
