Balderston: Supporting school choice
Persistent demands for and increased availability of school voucher programs, charter schools, tax credit programs, and homeschooling demonstrate families’ desire for greater agency over decisions about their children’s education. Parents call for greater control over critical decisions concerning their children’s education and schooling options.
Yet, the Aspen Board of Education opposes school choice.
Along with the Aspen Education Association, they want you to vote “no” on Amendment 80, which makes a parent’s choice part of the Colorado Constitution. Is this just another example of unions and government wanting control of our children?
For the ASD, it is all about the money, not our children’s education. If the public schools offer the best education, parents will be happy; if not, give them the choice to go elsewhere. Vote “yes” on this amendment if you care about educating our kids.
