Walter X. Williams

Walter X. Williams, 67, died, Saturday, February 20, 2016, at his home on Missouri Heights.

Walt was born May 19, 1948, in Santa Monica, CA and grew up in Grand Junction, CO. Walt graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1967. He trained to be a journeyman carpenter. He was originally drawn to the Roaring Fork Valley through the construction of Ruedi Reservoir. He soon fell in love with the area and moved his young family to El Jebel in 1969.

Walt was part owner of El Jebel Concrete and started WW Concrete, which he ran until his retirement. He was a founding member of West Eagle County Search & Rescue.

Walt was passionate about hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and farming. He was a dear friend to many who knew him for a long time or just had the pleasure to meet him once. Walt was always there to help.

He is survived by his brothers Floyd (Paula), Rifle, CO; and Raymond (Conda), Clifton, CO; daughter, Tami (Brent) Tamburelli of Trinidad, CO; son Todd (Tricia) of Carbondale, CO; son Ryan (Hayden) of Johnson City, TX; and wife Vonda Williams. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Pat Dalton and Dennis (Deby) Dalton; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.


He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Ann Williams and by his nephew Brent Williams.

A private burial for family will be held at the Basalt Cemetery followed by a public memorial service from 3 to 6 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2016 at Basalt Fire Station in El Jebel at 1089 JW Drive, Carbondale.
