Sarah Foret Mascotte
Sarah Foret Mascotte, formerly of Aspen, Colorado, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Our Lady of Peace, in Charlottesville, Va., where she resided and received Alzheimer’s care.
Sarah was born in New Orleans, La., on May 22, 1939, to the late Marcel and Bille Foret. She graduated from Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart and Trinity College, Washington D.C.
Sarah was married to John Pierre (Jake) Mascotte on April 23, 1966. Over the course of their 51 years of marriage the couple resided in Fort Wayne, Ind., Kansas City, Mo., Rye, N.Y. and Aspen, Colo.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Jake; daughter, Marcella Abramowicz of Denver, Colo.; sons, Mark of Charlottesville, Va., and Leo of New York City; five beautiful grandchildren; and her brother, L. Palmer Foret of Washington D.C.
Sarah is preceded in death by her son Matthew.
The family will be holding a small private family service in Aspen, Colo., and in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease and the Aging Brain Columbia University Medical Center 710 West 168th Street, 3rd floor New York, NY 10032.
