Gregory John Mears, Jr. passed peacefully in St. Petersburg, FL on September 7, 2023. Greg was born in Tampa, FL to Glenda and Gregory John Mears on September 9, 1969. By all accounts he was very active and gregarious from day one. Greg loved everything sports, especially if it involved the water or fun in the mountains of Colorado – the sea proved to be the real love of his life.
In 1980 Greg, Glenda and Monroe Summers moved to Aspen to start a life together in the mountains. Greg made friends instantaneously, of course. His good looks, effervescent personality, sweet soul, and cutting-edge wit were his hallmarks. Greg knew no stranger. Throughout his life Greg excelled in sports, sales, and had a profound love for and special communication with his four-legged friends.
He is survived by his loving Mother, Glenda; his loyal dog Floyd; and his countless friends around the globe that he touched personally. He will be cremated and there will be no service. His ashes will be returned to his favorite places on Earth, the sea and the mountains, where he spent many happy times.
