It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eric Scott Auer on February 16, 2025, in Aspen, Colorado. Eric was born in 1960, raised in Billings, Montana, and graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1978. He earned a B.A. in Art at Montana State University and later studied commercial art at the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver.
Eric’s love for the outdoors was evident in his active lifestyle. An avid skier, he found great joy on the slopes of Aspen, where he made his home for many years. He also enjoyed hiking, fishing, and camping, spending time in the natural beauty of the mountains of Colorado.
In his professional life, Eric was the founder of Auer Advertising based in Aspen. Eric created graphic designs, web designs and pursued fine art in his spare time.
Eric was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Auer; his mother, Peggy Jean Young (Auer); and his father, David Auer. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Geary and Ann Marie Auer. He is also survived by Robert’s children: Nicole, James and Mark Auer, as well as their mother, Jayme Vinton.
Eric always placed a very high value on his friendships. His memory will live on in the hearts of all of us who knew him as a brother and a friend. May Eric rest in peace.
