December 26, 1959 – November 11, 2024

Cindy (Rice) Kenney, admired as a pillar of strength, bravery and unyielding positivity, crossed over on November 11, 2024. Born on December 26, 1959, to Francis and Betty Rice, Cindy was known for the loving and wild spirit she brought into this world. Whether you knew Cindy growing up in Carbondale, through her insurance business or her love of football, she quickly became the friend that always felt like sunshine. She embodied a life of gratitude. A perfect day was being surrounded by her family and numerous animals while riding her tractor listening to Kenney Chesney’s “I am Alive and Well” on repeat and ending with a beautiful mesa sunset with her husband. She was a teacher of perseverance and ambition.
Cindy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Mike Kenney, daughter Shelbi (Amichaux) Bauer, son-in-law Ben Bauer and beloved grandchildren Bodie (7) and Nash (4). Father, Francis Rice and siblings Bobbie Bamford, Bill Rice, Deb Rice, as well as a large extended family. In the words of one of her favorites, Winnie the Pooh, “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together…Keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”
A Celebration of Life for Cindy will take place in the spring of 2025. Those wishing to pay their respects are welcome to donate to Colorado Animal Rescue (C.A.R.E) or Journey Home Animal Care Center in honor of her love for animals. Her family is grateful beyond words to all those who gave Cindy support, strength and light during her battle with ovarian cancer.
