Michael DeLeon

Michael DeLeon, 51, of Glenwood Springs, CO, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.

Born June 11, 1963 in Rotan, TX, Michael is survived by father Emilio DeLeon, mother Dolores Thatch, step-father Jimmy Thatch, sisters Vera (Felix) and Toni (Randall), brother James (Lorie), and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins from Fort Worth and Rotan, TX.

Michael proudly served for twenty years as a Lieutenant Firefighter and Paramedic in Fort Worth, TX. He moved to Aspen in 2005, where he was a dedicated employee at Aspen Valley Hospital. Michael was admired by his coworkers for his strong work ethic and unwavering positive attitude.

Michael was fun-loving and lived a full life. He cherished spending time with his family and friends, snowboarding, mountain biking, watching sports, and traveling. He loved country music and the Dallas Cowboys. Michael will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him. To know Michael was to love him, and he will continue to be an inspiration to many.

Services will be held Thursday, February 12th at 4:00 pm at the Aspen Chapel. Contributions in Michael’s memory can be made to BrentsPlace.org.
