Martin F. Popish, of Graeagle, California passed away peacefully in Reno, Nevada in the company of his family. He was born to parents Primosh & Jennie Popish and raised in Aspen. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bernard, Joseph and Edward. He is survived by his wife Dolores, sister Lillian Dalton, brother Louis Popish, seven children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren and their spouses, and six great-grandchildren.

Martin attended public school in Aspen. He volunteered for military service in WWII in 1944, completed basic naval training and served on USS Fergus. He attended college at the Colorado State Teacher’s College and taught school in Leadville. He moved to Portola, California in 1955. He taught mathematics at Portola High School and Feather River Canyon College in Quincy, California. He also taught cross-country and alpine skiing as well as worked for the USDA Forest Service.
