Lawrence Keith Meloy

Lawrence Keith Meloy, 67 passed on from cardiac arrest on Thursday April 30, 2015.

Larry was born May 13, 1947 in Phoenix, Arizona and raised in Manitou Springs, Colorado. After graduating from military boarding school in Kansas, Larry began his adult life in Colorado. In 1966 he and life long friend Rene Romero opened El Perdido restaurant in Breckenridge, a dream that they both shared. Shortly after, Larry moved to the Aspen area to work on the Snowmass ski patrol and began his career as a Stone Mason under the mentorship of Del Mars. Throughout his time in Aspen he supported his Masonry business by working nights cooking for local restaurants. Though he loved to cook and work with stone his life passion was for all fast motor vehicles. His most recent toy being a 1931 ford roadster that will be loved and enjoyed by his children.

In his 47 years in the valley, Larry’s kind heart and generosity touched many members of our community and will always be remembered and appreciated.

Larry is survived by his two children Ian and Mallory Meloy along with life partner Muffin Dole. There will be a celebration of Larry’s life at 1:00pm on June 13, 2015 at Newbury park in Aspen, Co. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the Save A Life Fund. or checks can be made out to Save a life fund and sent to the Aspen Community Foundation, 110 E Hallam Street Suite 126 Aspen, Co 81611.
