Laura Susan Parry

Laura Susan Parry, age 54, left this life on May 23, 2016, in Denver, Colorado, after a long and courageous struggle with acromegaly.

Laura was born on Dec. 19, 1961 in Aspen Valley Hospital. Laura’s love of Aspen, the people and the setting, stayed with her throughout her life.

Laura attended Aspen Public Schools, graduating in the class of 1980. She was on the volleyball, basketball and track teams, and, as a sophomore, set a new state record in high jump. In later years, Laura rode in Ride the Rockies and participated regularly in fund raising bike rides, runs, and walks throughout the state.

Laura earned B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Colorado. After graduating with honors, she worked for an international executive coaching company. Following this, Laura formed her own consulting company. In addition to business coaching, she conducted personal growth workshops and health education seminars.

In 2001 Laura was diagnosed with acromegaly, a condition caused by a tumor on her pituitary. She became active in the acromegaly network, ( attending conferences, supporting others with acromegaly, and participating in research. Because early detection can make all the difference, Laura’s mission was to inform others about her story and the symptoms of acromegaly,

Laura is survived by father, George Parry, Castle Rock; mother, Carolyn Parry, Denver; sister, Amy Collier (Robert), Littleton; brother, George Parry, Jr. (Launie), Ft. Collins; two nephews, Daniel Caldwell and Christopher Caldwell, and three nieces, Jessica Akerman, Katherine Parry and Sarah Parry.
