James Edward Heywood

Jim Heywood of Snowmass Village attended the Coast Guard Academy and UC Berkely, receiving Nautical and Electrical Engineering degrees. Jim began his career at IBM during the 1950s, and was chief research engineer at Ford Motor Co. and Vice President of Philco. After ventures with Silicon Valley companies, Jim taught wind surfing in San Francisco Bay, and sailed his ketch “Heyday” throughout the Caribbean. Jim loved hiking in Sedona and the Colorado mountains, and tennis with Aspen friends. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Dorothy, children Kathryn, Robin, Matthew, and Charles, and grandsons Bryce and Dillon.
