Helen Barta

Helen Barta, 94, of Basalt, CO passed onto her eternal home April 26, 2016. Helen was born November 5, 1921 in Deer Trail, CO. She spent her life raising her 8 children and ranching/farming at Wingo Junction. She is survived by her children Darwin Barta (Myrna) of Basalt, CO, Hal Barta (Donna) of Clinton, MO, Marcette Messer (Hezz) of Green Ville, PA, Deborah Barta (Rick Leonard) of Basalt, CO, Audrey Fix (Barney) of Aurora, CO, 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman, her sons John, Duane and Rorie.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be sent to Habitat for Humanity or Tom’s Door. A visitation/rosary will be held on Monday, May 2 at Farnum Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be Tuesday, May 3, at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, Basalt, CO at 10:00 a.m.
