Eugene F. Todd

The Rev. Eugene F. Todd, Rector Emeritus of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Cheyenne, passed away on August 23, 2014 at his home in Cheyenne surrounded by his loving family.

Eugene was born July 1, 1928 and grew up on the family cattle ranch on Piney Creek in Sheridan. In 1953 he married Shirley Hall. He earned his Bachelors degree from the University of Denver in 1951, his Master of Theology from the Iliff School of Theology in 1954 and his Master of Arts from the University of South Dakota in 1960. In 1975 Eugene married Rosemary Adamson.

Eugene was ordained into the Episcopal priesthood in 1962. In 1965, Eugene became rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Cheyenne to which he dedicated the next 27 years of his life and ministry. In 2001, he was awarded the honorary title as Rector Emeritus of St. Mark’s Church.

Eugene wrote two books on the Todd family history,”Recollections of a Piney Creek Rancher” and “The Todd Legacy”. His major writing achievement was the publication “Tales &Irreverencies of a Country Parson”.

Eugene was the last survivor of the original Todd family. Hewas preceded in death by six siblings, infant son Jonathan, and grandson RileyVoycheske. He is survived by his loving wife Rosemary and their children Lorilee, Barry, Sheridan, Mary, Rebecca and Kimberley, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his first wife Shirley Hughes.

All services will be held at St. Marks Episcopal Church. Visitation is on August 26th from 4-7pm with prayers at 6:45pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held August 27th at 11am.There will be a private family internment into the columbarium.
