Eric Sondeen

Eric Sondeen, 61 of Boulder, CO, previously of Aspen, CO and Ann Arbor, MI, transitioned on March 4,2015. Eric was born on March 15, 1953 to Phillip and Loumar Sondeen in Ann Arbor, MI. He married Tracy Carter on January 29, 1992. They have one son, Hunter. Eric was a lifetime firefighter and paramedic. He began his professional fire service career with the U.S. Forest Service in 1974. He served the Littleton (CO) Fire Rescue for 28 years, retiring in 2009 with the rank of Paramedic Lieutenant.
Eric loved serving others. His motto, from the Dalai Lama: “kindness is my religion” was lived out daily. He was active in several organizations through the years, including the Colorado Chapter of the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN), the Rocky Mountain Chapter of Wind & Fire MC, Colorado Operation Lifesaver, Colorado Urban & Search Rescue Task Force 1, the Colorado Patriot Guard Riders and many others.
Eric is survived by his parents, his wife, Tracy and son, Hunter; siblings Mark (Maureen) Sondeen and Karen (Ed) Redies.
A Celebration of Life will be held beginning at 3:00 PM, with a formal ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Red Rocks Amphitheater. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any Burn Camp of the Children’s Hospital in your area, Firefighter Cancer Support Network, or TRU Community Hospice.
