Zupancis parcel as pet-friendly housing

Dear Editor:Regarding the recent news detailing Aspen City Council’s uncertainly about what to do with the Zupancis parcel adjacent to the Pitkin County courthouse annex on Main Street …Perhaps Council could look into using the parcel for affordable housing for pets and their people. Especially since the parcel was purchased using money from the affordable housing fund. While using property purchased with housing funds may seem a shoo-in for housing development, perhaps the idea of not having to remove 4,000-plus unexpected dump truck loads of dirt, or missing an opportunity to spend an additional million dollars every year to purchase and operate more buses for suburbia makes the Zupancis parcel less intriguing for a government intent on growing its budget and placing people in suburbs that do not allow dogs.Bert MyrinAspen
