GLENWOOD SPRINGS – Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park has begun construction on two new attractions, a bungee jump and zip line, which will likely debut next spring, according to adventure park owner Steve Beckley.

The 70-foot vertical bungee jump and 625-foot zip line ride will launch from a common jumping off point, on a tower that is currently being installed near the main entrance to the park.

The zip line will carry two riders at a time over the top of the Alpine Coaster, and mechanically return them back up the mountain.

“It will be a 54-second ride, and should be quite exciting,” Beckley said. “The bungee jump is a 70-foot free fall before people are caught by a bungee cord with a big inflatable cushion below it.”

The new attractions will allow the park to provide guests with new ways to enjoy the park, and reduce the wait times for other rides on busy summer days, said Beckley, who owns the park with his wife Jeanne.

“The incredible response to our Giant Canyon Swing this summer supported our decision to add another extreme adventure, and the bungee jump will definitely fit into the extreme category,” he said. “The zip line is something that our customers have been requesting for several years.”

The zip line will be included in the price of the park’s day pass. There will be an additional charge for the bungee jump, he said.

A specific opening date for the attraction has not been set, Beckley said, but will likely coincide with the seasonal reopening of the park next spring.
