Zanna Thorner-Hughes died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, at Aspen Valley Hospital. She was 48 years old.She was born March 12, 1957, in Linkoping, Sweden, to Anders and Margareta (Andersson) Thorner. She attended school there and graduated from the University of Lund with a degree in nursing, specializing in child health care. She cared for all ages of children, from infants to teens and from minor to acute care. Zanna was also a certified massage and healing therapist, was fluent in seven languages, and had been a fashion model in Sweden and throughout Europe. Zanna had worked as a sales associate with Elizabeth Ryan Jewelry in Snowmass Village and had managed the Yurt Restaurant on the slopes of the Snowmass ski area. She had also been a hostess and waitress at the Tower Restaurant in Snowmass Village.Zanna taught for five years at Adolssberg Skkolan in Helsengburg, Sweden. After coming to America, she married Dale Hughes. She loved children, wildlife and cooking. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.She is survived by her husband, Dale Hughes, son Daniel Thorner, three sisters, and one brother, and their families, who reside in Sweden. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anders and Margareta Thorner. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
