YouthEntity to host culinary boot camp in Carbondale
YouthEntity will host the Western Slope ProStart Competition Boot Camp from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 29 at the YouthEntity Center in Carbondale.
The event, led by the Colorado Restaurant Association Education Foundation, will include ProStart teachers, competition teams and mentors from the Roaring Fork Valley and the Western Slope. The teams will learn best practices for the upcoming competitions throughout Colorado, with the hope of advancing to the National ProStart Invitational — the country’s premier high school competition focused on restaurant management and culinary arts.
“Every year I look forward to coaching our restaurant management competition team,” said Kirsten McDaniel, executive director of YouthEntity. “It’s really rewarding for the students to develop a restaurant concept starting with a blank piece of paper and integrating a variety of elements from marketing, food costing, menu design and human resources into a concept that’s a hero not a zero.”
