Youth center heads to school

Dear Editor:We are writing to inform all parents with children who attend the Aspen Youth Center that our space in the ARC is closed until after Thanksgiving due to the toxic fumes from the repainting project in the swimming pool area. The fumes are coming through the ventilation system and making it a dangerous area for our staff and the children. Aspen Elementary School has kindly offered us the use of the cafeteria until Nov. 29, when we will move back into the ARC, provided the area is safe. We will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. starting today. There will be no cost to the kids. All of our already-scheduled programs, including the Chess Club, will still take place as usual. The Aspen Youth Center serves children ages 7 to 18. We will provide after-school homework assistance, play board and card games with the children, and offer arts and crafts projects. Please note that the center programming does not replace the after-school care previously offered by the schools last year. We appreciate your understanding and also wish to thank Aspen Elementary School for its generous support. We look forward to being back in our space in the ARC after Thanksgiving and hope to see all of you soon. If you have any questions or would like any information about the programs we provide, please call Brian Hart, our programs director, at 948-5759.Allison DailyCarolyn Glahboard vice presidents
