You guys rock

Dear Editor:

I would like to send out a big thanks to everyone in our community who made the Rock and Roll Academy Spring Rock Concert this past Thursday at the Wheeler Opera House a huge success. Almost 400 people attended the show in which 40 kids performed in eight all-student bands.

First of all thanks to all of the students who performed in the concert. It takes an incredible amount of bravery to get on stage in front of your family, friends, and complete strangers and perform the songs you chose. Second thanks to everyone who attended the show. You were a great audience. Next thanks to everyone who volunteered and worked behind the scenes tuning guitars and wrangling kids. You know who you are.

Also thanks to Junk, Jimmy’s, O Loves M, Aspen Candy Co., Pitkin County Steakhouse and Tavern, Tulips Body Waxing Studio, and Two Old Hippies, all of whom donated prizes to benefit our scholarship program. Finally a huge thank you to the Wheeler Opera House who sponsored our event. Gram, Heather, and everyone on the Wheeler staff – in my best Elvis impersonation – ah thank you, thank you very much.

Registration is now open for our Summer Rock Camps and Fall After School Program.
