You can help Hospice of the Valley
Dear Editor:I just wanted to take a moment to share something that I have experienced during the course of my 40 years as a nurse. One question I hear most often from patients and families in hospice care is: “How can we ever thank you?” I also hear, “Neither I nor my family could have done this without hospice support and help.”Hospice of the Valley is a local nonprofit organization that provides compassionate, quality care to individuals who are diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, a prognosis of six months or less to live. Our service area encompasses communities from Aspen to Vail, and west to Battlement Mesa/Parachute. We care for those in need regardless of their ability to pay, and provide grief support for more than 13 months after the loss of a loved one.As executive director of Hospice of the Valley, I want to invite the community to show their support for Hospice by coming to our fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 27, called “Cowboy and Cowgirl Golf.” You can enjoy the afternoon barbecue as a spectator or you can come and hit a few balls around a unique course located around the Dallenbach Ranch in the Frying Pan River Valley two miles above Basalt. If you have never played a game of “wacky” golf where handicaps are totally disregarded, and there are no traditional rules, please come! An amazing barbecue by our great friends from Smoke will be served as well as a silent auction and inventive prize ceremony for our cowboy and cowgirl golf winners. If you cannot join us for the event, please feel free to make an online donation by visiting our website at http://www.hchotv.org, or call us at 927-6650.
