A midvalley man died after his SUV rolled down a steep embankment outside Basalt on Tuesday morning. The 53-year-old man lived in the Phillips Hillside trailer park. His name was not released pending notification of next of kin. Drugs, alcohol and excessive speed all played a role in the crash, police said.Evidence and interviews suggest the wreck and the man’s body were not discovered until 26 hours after the accident, a Colorado State Patrol news release says.Around 8 a.m. Tuesday, the man’s 1987 Chevrolet Suburban was headed downhill on a four-wheel-drive road on Bureau of Land Management property. Arbaney Gulch Road is about a mile north of the trailer park, which is seven miles east of Basalt. The SUV went off the road’s right-hand side and rolled one and a half times. The victim was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected.
