Worker exploitation

Dear Editor:

I have to laugh (disgustedly) at the letters to the editor that tout the Aspen Skiing Co.’s wages and policies … (Mulcahy vs. Skico) … and how locals and/or instructors should be “so thankful” for their meager pay … or shut up, or leave … before Big Brother fires them.

This is as obscenely ridiculous as saying that Indian, Chinese, Latino slave laborers, et al, should “shut up and be thankful” for their $1/day sweat-shop jobs from corporations that take advantage of their monopolies and use heavy-handed tactics to dictate their agenda.

Think about miners too, or agricultural workers, or people unfortunate enough to only have one or two jobs to pick from. Just because a corporation brings money to a scenario certainly doesn’t mean they’re conscientious employers.

Remember “Big Money”? Still applicable.
