Work under way at Aspen airport

ASPEN ” Pitkin County workers will be busy at the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport for the next three weeks, as the county strives to meet the requirements of federal aviation officials concerning the condition of the runway.

For about the next three weeks, according to a news release from the county, construction crews and heavy equipment will be working on repairing and re-grading turf areas around the runway at the airport

All work is to take place between 11 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. to minimize disruption. The work is “required by the FAA to maintain safety of the runway,” the county’s prepared statement said.
