Woody Creek homeowners, county reach accord

Aspen Times Staff Report
Aspen, CO Colorado

WOODY CREEK ” The Woody Creek Mobile Home Park, now a subdivision where the former renters own the land under their homes, smoothed out a series of differences with the Pitkin County commissioners this week.

The subdivision’s homeowners association agreed to enforce the county’s insistence that the homeowners tie onto new water, sewer and electric systems, so the HOA can pull out the old, outmoded systems and comply with a series of county deadlines.

The HOA will assess fines of $100 per month for all homes that are not hooked up by June 1.

Members of the HOA also agreed to remove a large earthen berm along Upper River Road, which was built to avoid the expense of having the dirt and gravel hauled away, and to meet the county’s demands for landscaping on other berms and around a new water storage tank perched on a hillside above the neighborhood.

The commissioners had threatened to withhold building permits for any new homes in the subdivision if the HOA failed to comply with the deadlines for getting all homeowners connected to the utilities.

The conversion of the old mobile home park, located behind the Woody Creek Tavern and the Woody Creek Community Center, had been sought for decades by park residents and was finally accomplished with Pitkin County’s help last year.
