Winter weather approaching; Aspen could see snow
Aspen, CO Colorado
ASPEN – A winter weather advisory goes into effect Wednesday night in western Colorado, but forecasters expect areas in the southwest to get most of the snow. Forecasts for Aspen vary from predicting a few inches of fresh snow to very little.
According to the National Weather Service, an approaching storm is expected to bring widespread rain and snow in the valleys and moderate snowfall in the mountains. Up to 12 inches of snow is forecast in areas of the southwest.
The snow is expected to spread to the Front Range on Thursday, bringing heavy snow to the Eastern Plains.
The weather service is calling for 2 to 4 inches of snow Thursday in Aspen and possibly another 1 to 2 inches Thursday night. The chance of snow diminishes Friday and sunny skies dominate the forecast starting Saturday, the agency said.
The bloggers at aspenweather.net are calling for possible snow off and on Thursday and Thursday night, but caution that it’s possible the storm will be a bust for local slopes.
