Willits trail a success

Dear Editor:

On behalf of all valley residents, but especially the residents and business owners in the Willits Lane and Midvalley Design Center area of Basalt, we would like to say THANKS SO MUCH and “atta boy” for a job well done to the Basalt town staff and the contractors for the recently completed bike path and traffic improvements along Willits Lane.

Not only was the project itself well done, it successfully improves pedestrian and bicycle safety, complements the natural beauty of the river corridor, improves the operation of the boat launch facilities and, most importantly, builds a critical right of way to tie the midvalley’s residential and business communities together along an attractive, low-impact, transportation corridor.

I would like to compliment the town for their vision and commitment to the process and special thanks to Town Engineer Larry Thompson, Public Works Director Bentley Henderson and Horticulturist Lisa Dinardo for their contributions. All the citizens of the valley will enjoy the many subtle benefits of this important public works project for many years to come.

I’m sure there are many others who have also contributed their time and energy to help with completing this important trail connection over the years. When you see them, share your smile and take the time to spread the good energy that comes from recognizing a job well done to make our community the great place it is to work and play in.
