Wilfire burns near Pikes Peak

Aspen, CO Colorado

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. ” Firefighting crews are working to contain a blaze burning near Pikes Peak, and the Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway.

No homes are being threatened, but a column of smoke could be seen above Manitou Springs Friday afternoon.

Firefighters also report isolated torching above the railway station.

The fire is estimated at 5 acres, with zero percent containment.

A hiker reported the blaze to Manitou Springs police Friday morning.

Railway officials are considering canceling afternoon trips to the top of Pikes Peak.
