Wildflower walk is Monday

Wilderness Workshop and the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies will play host to a wildflower walk in the Hunter Creek Valley at 9 a.m. Monday.

Jim Kravitz, Aspen Center for Environmental Studies’ Naturalist Programs director, will lead this walk through the montane ecosystem identifying summer wildflowers. The mid-elevation hike is 4 miles. No dogs are allowed. Bring appropriate day-hike equipment, including water, snacks and lunch.

The free hike is sponsored by Alpine Bank, Aspen Snowmass Sotheby’s, Reese Henry & Company, Roaring Fork Valley Horse Council, Bristlecone Mountain Sports and Gorsuch.

Parent company of Aspen Times sells to Ogden Newspapers

Swift Communications, the parent company of The Aspen Times and other Colorado mountain town newspapers, is selling its local media and publishing businesses to West Virginia-based Ogden Newspapers, the companies announced Tuesday morning.
