Widespread respect for Waititi

Dear Editor:

(Re: “Gents coach Waititi is stepping down, Aspen Times, June 4)

Just taking the opportunity to offer a HUGE measure of thanks to Freddy (and Martina) Waititi for their work resurrecting the rugby club over the past three years.

While serving as the club’s board chairman during this period, I had the opportunity to closely observe Freddy’s magic in guiding the Gents from barely being able to field a 15-man side to an unprecedented eighth national championship. His quiet, unassuming manner belied a fierce commitment to hard work and teamwork, which earned Freddy widespread respect, not only from his own players and supporters but also from the national and international rugby communities, as well.
