Why you should vote

Dear Editor:I want to encourage all of you who live in Aspen to vote in the upcoming May election. There are lots of important issues to think about – changes in people on the City Council and our mayor. Please consider what is important for the community of Aspen. What and who will benefit the soul of Aspen? Will having dedicated bus lanes help the soul of Aspen? I don’t think so. That’s like putting a Barbie Band-Aide on a compound fracture. Do we need people on the City Council who will continue to OK projects that put money in developers’ pockets, like fractional ownership, or do we need leaders who will “just say no” to more high-end, energy sucking mansions and yes to middle class projects (aka employee housing)? It’s time for a change. Please vote with your hearts and make Aspen a place where all can afford to live.Kim VieiraAspen
