Why Weiss? Here’s why

Dear Editor:I am Cliff Weiss and I am running for a seat on City Council. I believe my qualifications and experience make me the best candidate to ensure the protection of Aspen’s quality of life and our environment. I also believe that my extensive experience building businesses makes me uniquely suited to manage the balance between the needs of our economy and the needs of our small town.After 22 years marketing resorts, decades of business management, four years as a Planning & Zoning commissioner, and many more years serving on COWOPS, task forces, HOAs, and benefits boards, I have the skills to be up and running my first year on council.Aspen is in a tough battle to compete with other resorts during hard economic times. Life will be better for everyone if we attract more guests by improving our competitive edge. To keep the edge, we need new and improved lodging to match our unparalleled four mountain skiing experience. We must reach out to new markets, and we must make getting here more fun, we must increase support for our big town arts and entertainment, and we must have the best mass-transit system of any resort.I promise that I will work tirelessly to accomplish these goals while at the same time protecting our scenery and places of peace and solitude.
