Why the personal attacks?

Bravo to Michelle Fox and Lauren Yant for speaking up against rodeos in their letters to the editor.

Why is it that whenever letters like these appear in our local papers someone always feels the need to personally attack the writer instead of the issue? All too often in our society, the ignorant will take a defensive stance, countering with finger pointing and name calling instead of listening to the information given.

I am always amazed to hear that cruelty to animals can be considered entertainment to anyone! Rodeos are just that – cruelty to animals – and I urge all parents to consider this before you take your child to an event that teaches no compassion for sentient beings.
