Who’s the real patriot?

It is more in amusement than chagrin, that I read of the “Local group wants Bush held accountable for lie” (July 25). It is more pathetic than sad that so many who would summarily accuse President Bush of “lying” are themselves distorting and ignoring the facts to support ideologically motivated conclusions they draw despite the facts. When they find no supporting facts, they make them up.

I would dismiss them as myopic, obtuse, propagandizing sophists (“MOPS” in short). They claim to be legitimate dissenters exercising their rights of free speech and, because of that exercise, to be fully patriotic. “Patriotic” does not necessarily follow. Legitimate criticism has to be based in honesty at the least and should be informed. These self-proclaimed “patriots” are not honest nor are they informed. Who is lying? The history of socialism, despots, and tyranny in the last 100 years has amply demonstrated that the socialistic left cannot rely on the facts for support, so making them up and propagandizing the public is their resort.

It is important for them to make America look bad and harm her, so they can advance their socialist agenda. Who is patriotic?
