Who is really illegal?

Dear Editor:

First off, America isn’t a garage, it’s a country and really what are illegal immigrants stealing? Why should we be complaining anyway? Maybe it’s a revolution that should continue, because it’s not that America didn’t steal this land, they did!

Thousands of people were living here long before the settlers came. So if you don’t think that was an injustice to them, and you do believe in land property then you can argue that this land was found and owned by Great Britain.

When it was formed settlers from all over the world came and barely any documentation was taken. So why should it be so different now? Why don’t we take all the money we would use to build this wall and invest it in Mexico’s economy? Don’t you think that would do much more good than separating two countries? Not to mention, are we talking about all illegal Immigrants anymore or are we just talking about Mexicans and Latinos? The reason I mention this is because the last time I checked the dictionary an “illegal immigrant” or “illegal alien” was “a foreigner who has entered or resides in a country unlawfully or without the country’s authorization.” So if this is the true definition, shouldn’t this wall not only cover the southern part of our country but the northern as well? Shouldn’t we have a stronger policy on overseas immigration? Remember if you’re going to blame some of America’s problems on illegal immigrants, please don’t generalize.

So if that isn’t the answer and building the wall has to happen, I believe that it would be stupid and irresponsible to deport all the illegal immigrants in America right now. Most of them have been here for quite some time and contributed in some way or another. I would have to say, once this wall goes up all the people already in the U.S. should have to show they are employed and be given their citizenship. Instead of packing them into crates and shipping them back like cargo!

They’re people too and, sadly enough, I think a lot of us have forgotten that. After all, how can a person ” someone from our same species ” be illegal? They can do illegal things and objects can be illegal but how can they be illegal? Isn’t that what America really wants ” everyone to be free? That is the excuse I hear most often for the U.S. still being in Iraq. So shouldn’t we act as people because I do think that is what most of us want. I think the best way was said like this: “Imagine all the people, living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you can join us and the WORLD will live as one.” ” John Lennon
